A Swiss power development company participates in a local Peruvian enterprise, which owns two small hydro power plants and the relevant concessions.
They rehabilitated the first plant with a capacity of 0.6 MW, and are developing a second one with 0.2 MW capacity. There are more small hydro power plants in preparation with a total capacity of up to 23 MW.
The energy is sold to a mining company, replacing diesel generators. This enables the power company to sell CO2-certificates (“Carbon Credits”) and generate additional income for the project.
