Experienced entrepreneurs and investors know it: start-ups always take longer and cost more than planned. But sometimes it takes a particularly long time and demands an extraordinary amount of patience and perseverance from the entrepreneur (and his investors).
Indeed, if there were a prize for perseverance, Eser Karatas would be a top candidate for it. More than seven years have passed since Eser Karatas received the approval for a loan from SECO Start-up Fund. Since then, in addition to the “usual suspect”-challenges of any start-up, the young entrepreneur had to overcome numerous bureaucratic hurdles, and digest a multiplication of his budget as a direct result of the Covid-19 crisis and the Ukraine war.
But Eser Karatas is someone who seeks challenges and grows with them. So he pulled it through and this fall his state of the art brewery near Douala shall finally become operational, with the aim to produce 60’000 hectolitres of beer in the first year already and employ 50 staff.
