Inqaba Biotechnical Industries (Pty) Ltd. was founded in 2001 by Swiss and German molecular biologists and is based in Pretoria, South Africa. The company’s mission is to provide genomic services for laboratories in South Africa and the neighboring countries faster and at a better price than local importers. Its products are the basics for genomic research and diagnostics and might contribute in the future to research in disease diagnostics and treatment, or to yield increases in crops.
The first three years of operations were devoted to DNA synthesis and sequencing as well as to developing a new product. During this phase, the product marketability, company cost structure and profitability were put to the test with good results.
Today, Inqaba Biotec is a successful company and a market leader in their industry offering the latest high-tech products and services.
Inqaba Biotec received a credit from the SECO Start-up Fund to co-finance the project’s start-up.
