Schätti AG Metallwarenfabrik is a family-run enterprise based in Schwanden, Switzerland, producing metal parts for furniture and kitchen appliances. It is currently the market leader in Switzerland for the manufacturing of metal fittings for beds.
In order to offset rising steel prices and strengthen its competitive edge, the company decided to set up a new factory in the region of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The Plovdiv factory produces hinges, metal fittings and furniture joints, particularly for beds.
The local economy is benefiting from the creation of 120 additional employment opportunities thanks to the new factory. Ten of these positions require people with higher qualifications. The factory uses modern production techniques, resulting in fittings of good quality that can compete favorably in the international market place. The employees also benefit from trainings in advanced metal working methods implemented in the manufacturing process.
The loan from the SECO Start-up Fund that Schätti AG received was used to finance the factory, equipment and working capital.
